TRMNL Integration

Your lists, on your TRMNL.

Put your MagicList+ shopping and custom lists on a TRMNL e-ink display — always-on, glanceable, and refreshed automatically as you check things off.

MagicList+ is a free iOS app — install it and sign in (Google or Apple) first, then add the TRMNL plugin and connect the same account.

A glance at the full-screen layout

What you’ll see

A clean, paper-like board of everything still left to get or do.

Just what’s left

Only active (unchecked) items appear. Check something off in the app and it drops from the screen on the next refresh.

Grouped & counted

Items stay grouped by section or store aisle, each list topped with a clear “N left” count so you can read it from across the room.

Several at once

Pick one list or many — your shopping list and any custom lists — and they’re laid out in tidy columns sized to your TRMNL layout.

Hands-off

Your TRMNL refreshes on its own schedule, so the screen keeps itself current. No app to open, nothing to tap.

Set it up in five steps

A few minutes, start to finish.

1

Get the MagicList+ app

MagicList+ is a free iOS app for shopping and custom lists — it isn’t Google Keep. Install it from the App Store and sign in with Google or Apple; that’s the account you’ll connect to TRMNL.

Download on the App Store
2

Add the MagicList+ plugin

In your TRMNL dashboard, open the plugin marketplace and install MagicList+. TRMNL hands you over to a MagicList+ page to connect your account.

3

Sign in with Apple or Google

Choose Sign in with Apple or Google — the same one you use in the MagicList+ app. That links this TRMNL device to your lists; nothing is posted or changed in your account.

4

Choose your lists

Tick the lists you want on the screen — your shopping list and any custom lists. Save, and you’re sent back to TRMNL.

5

You’re done

Your lists appear on the next refresh. Want it instantly? Use Force refresh on the plugin in your TRMNL dashboard.

Change your mind later? Open the MagicList+ plugin’s Manage page from your TRMNL dashboard anytime to add or remove lists. Updates appear on the next refresh.

Questions & troubleshooting

Is this a Google Keep plugin?

No. MagicList+ is its own free iOS app for shopping and custom lists — it isn’t Google Keep, and it doesn’t read your Keep notes. The plugin shows the lists you keep in the MagicList+ app. We only use your Google or Apple sign-in to identify you and link your TRMNL to your account — we never read your Keep notes.

Do I need a MagicList+ account first?

To show your own lists, yes — MagicList+ is a free iOS app, so create your account there first (using the same Google or Apple account you’ll connect to TRMNL). No account yet? The install still finishes and your TRMNL shows a sample list, so you can see how it looks before connecting.

Why is my TRMNL showing a sample shopping list?

That’s demo mode: you finished installing before connecting a MagicList+ account, so we show a sample so the screen isn’t blank. Get the free iOS app, sign in with the same Google or Apple account, then open this plugin’s Manage page — it’ll switch to your real lists on the next refresh.

“No MagicList+ account found” after I sign in

The plugin signs you in with Google or Apple and looks for a matching MagicList+ account. Make sure you use the same account you use in the MagicList+ app — and if you haven’t yet, install the free iOS app and create your account first, then connect again from the Manage page.

Which lists can I display?

Any of your custom lists (Packing, To-Do, projects, and so on) and your shopping list. You can show several at once; they’re arranged in columns sized to your TRMNL layout.

My screen isn’t updating

TRMNL refreshes plugins on its own interval, so changes can take a few minutes. To update right away, use Force refresh on the plugin in your TRMNL dashboard. Remember only active items show — checking one off in the app removes it on the next refresh.

Can I change which lists are shown?

Anytime. Open the MagicList+ plugin’s Manage page from your TRMNL dashboard to add or remove lists; your changes take effect on the next refresh.

What gets sent to my TRMNL?

Only the lists you choose, and only their item names and remaining counts — just enough to draw the screen. We never post, edit, or delete anything in your MagicList+ account.

Can I sign in with Apple?

Yes. On the connect screen, choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google — use whichever you use in the MagicList+ app, with the same account, so we can match you.

Only the lists you choose are sent to TRMNL. We never post or change anything in your account.
